Safer Streets - Beta
Aims
You can use the Safer Streets website to tell your local council and police teams where you feel safe or unsafe in your local area and to view local safety information. It will enable you to:
- Share your views on safety with local authorities, police and your community;
- View information on safety initiatives provided by local agencies;
- Share information which helps local agencies decide how to address safety issues;
- Find out more about the work being done to tackle crime.
This is NOT a site to report crime - if you wish to report crime, please contact your local police station or dial 999 in an emergency.
The Safer Streets website is currently being piloted in 3 areas and is intended for use only by people living or working in these areas. Please select which of the pilot areas you wish to enter:
How you can take part
Stick 'pins' in the interactive map where you feel safe or unsafe.
Use green pins to mark safe locations and a red pin for unsafe locations.
A green tick will appear when local agencies post a response.
Use a yellow pin to post suggestions on how a particular street or location could be made safer or to provide safety tips or information to other users.
You can add comments or upload photos to support your pin. You can also find contact details for your local authority or neighbourhood policing team.
Information on the maps
Blue and brown pins are updated by local agencies with information on local activities, such as details of upcoming meetings.
The map also features icons to show locations relevant to personal safety, such as car parks accredited under the ParkMark scheme and police stations.
The pilot
The Safer Streets website is being piloted in three areas. A decision to expand the sites availability will be based upon the outcomes of the pilots.
